After we hacked back in to DEATHSTAR.DARPA.MIL,
our old server, we found that many of the files
stored here since '92 -- both our stuff and the government's -- had been lost
to hard disk corruption during eight years of down time.
But other files were "lost" intentionally -- in a massive purge near the end
of the Bush I era. Others were removed just after the system was turned back
on, in early 2001. We've uncovered some tantalizing clues in the server logs
about the missing files.
A lot of well-known government figures have logged into this server over the
